If you use the Bluetooth wireless keyboard on the Mac, then you will be missing a number pad. You have a few options to get this – you can get a USB number pad, or look for a Bluetooth one… or use your iPhone / iPod Touch!
It requires installed software on your Mac, but I don’t find it too much of an overhead, and you can turn it on only when you need it.
At US$1.99, it’s far cheaper than going out and buying another piece of hardware.

Dearest loves TV. I remember when we were really broke and the one thing we couldn’t let slide, EVER, was the cable TV subscription. It was the big thing that DH did after a long day at work – one hour after working at home to unwind. I have no problem with that – he earned it!
I have found, however, that he hates me scanning the channels while he’s watching a program (unfortunately that’s not a 2-way street – he can do it while I’m watching, but that’s another story 
)… so I’ve got this nifty app that let’s me scan through all my favourite cable and free-to-air programs here in Singapore.
AND I can do it without bugging dearest! AND I can search!
For those that have gone through the recent shuffle of channel numbering with Starhub in Singapore, it has the updated channel numbers… which I find convenient coz I can’t remember them yet!!

I love taking photos.
This app is like a daily diary of photos that I have taken, which becomes a bit of a memoir of what I have done over time.
If you install the free iPhone Flickr app, which allows you to download images from your Flickr account, then you can add other photos to the ones that you take with your iPhone to fill out the month.
For example, yesterday I didn’t take any photos with my iPhone, but I took a few with my camera, which will be uploaded to my Flickr account. I can then download them to my iPhone using the Flickr app, and add them to Project 365.
Why bother?
Because it’s a good way to show friends and it also allows me to upload to my Facebook account quite nicely.

I love to doodle.
It doesn’t mean I’m an amazing artist, or anything, but if I’m bored, I will sometimes just draw. I also like to draw when I’m listening to a lecture or something… my lecture notes at uni were full of doodles.
Fortunately there are a few apps on the iPhone that allow me to do this and destroy the evidence so that my teachers don’t think that I’m not paying attention. Why wasn’t this around when I was in uni????
MyPaint Free has many tools, many colours, the ability to import images from your image library and draw on them. You can change the width of the brush, and save the final image to many different locations.

Another app that has caught my attention is Gruml.
I get most of my news through my RSS reader – and being able to integrate with Google Reader is a key feature… that way I can read on my iPhone (for which I use MobileRSS – both for its synchronising capability and its social abilities) and have the ‘read’ stories removed from my desktop app… like email, who wants to delete things twice??
Gruml simply allowed me to enter in my Google Reader account information, and off I went.
Simple. Easy. Effective.

Features in Photoshop.Com mobile include:
- Crop, straighten, rotate and flip
- Adjust exposure, saturation, tint and contrast
- Apply filters such as sketch, soft focus and sharpen
- Add borders and other effects
In a mobile photo editing app, I find that I rarely need to go beyond this, and it’s a super photo editing staple.

One of the more frustrating things about getting my Mac up and running was scanning with my HP 5610 All-in-One Printer.
I tried downloading the HP software for Mac for this model, and all I got was “Scanner not found” or not online, or something similar. I unplugged, restarted, reinstalled, redownloaded, but no success.
I even had no success with the in-built Image Capture program on the Mac.
After reading a few forums, I was directed to try VueScan – and it works like a charm. It’s not free – I had to shell out USD39.95 for a licence, however the trial version convinced me it would work – and it was either this or a new printer… and while I could have upgraded my printer relatively cheaply, I’m quite happy with this model and wanted a solution without having to run to the shops. Besides, the disposable attitude we’re encouraged to have towards printers these days is quite horrible, and I was determined not to throw this perfectly functional piece of equipment away.
So if you’re stuck for scanning software with your HP printer, I can vouch for this software that does exactly what it says it will.
As my sister in law correctly pointed out, for those that have a username and password, you might find it difficult to access the private posts from this blog from your mobile phone.
I am using a plugin called WPtouch, which makes a more iPhone/mobile phone friendly website template for my blog. However some of its features are not easily understood / accessed.
If you go to http://myblog.ozlady.com on your mobile phone, you should see the site in a mobile-friendly format.
You will notice that there is a downward pointing arrow next to the title of the blog (Ozlady’s Ramblings). Touch the arrow with your finger, and you will be presented with a menu like the following.
Touch “Login”.
Touch the username field and a keyboard will appear that will allow you to enter your username and password.
Touch “Go” when you have entered in both.
Once you have logged in, you should be able to view additional posts, as well as add comments.

Whenever i’m watching TV or a movie, my husband has learned to deal with me puzzling out which other movie / TV show they’re in within the first 15 minutes of the actor appearing on the screen.
Now his agony can be over in less than a minute with the IMDB iPhone app.
Simply an awesome extension of this great website!
