Some days it’s just a question of having your camera and being there.
We were waiting for a door to be unlocked to put some borrowed drums back after the corporate job yesterday, and I noticed this reflection.
The light was fading fast so I decided to bolt for my camera (it was in my bag). I’m glad I did.

I have not experienced such an intense week of joy in a long time – and the djembe has always been such a source of happiness for me!
What an amazing week… I didn’t post anything here on my blog last week as I was drumming in workshops with Mamady Keita. And Wow! What a percussionist. I was inspired by his talent, and touched by the stories he shared and the way that he was with everyone in our drum school! Just amazing.

[And thank you Monette Keita - I have since learned more about you and you are indeed a talent in your own right. I was just sad I missed your performance on Thursday evening]

My arm hurts… my shoulders hurt. I was so eager to play it – “Oh, I remember that… it looked fun,” I said.
After Kelvin ramped up the practice pace I thought my arm was going to fall off. The djembe players had no problems – it was just the tone-slap warm up… the speed of the kinkine rhythm almost killed me.
Two days later I’m wearing pain patches on my shoulders.
Ouch!
