Recently, my niece went to China. My brother gave her the advice to point to the Great Wall of China and say “does that keep the rabbits out?”
At first the reference was lost on me, but I found it amusing (given the history of rabbits and fences in Australia), but my Dad pointed me to the fact that the advice given by my brother was based on a TV commercial.
The father in the ad says that the Great Wall of China was built by the Emperor of China – Emperor Nasi Goreng (Malay/Indonesian for fried rice)… LOL. Apparently there are now a number of teenagers in Australia that think there really was an Emperor Nasi Goreng!

hey, that’s so funny! I thought of the rabbit proof fences.. but obviously we’ve been out of Australia for too long! Talking of TV ads.. do you remember the old Telstra ad – That’ll be the phone Reg?
I’m about to hit some culture shock… moving back to Australia in 5 weeks and 3 days! Yikes!

This ad always cracks me up hehe, it’s very clever and humourous. And seriously the advice to ask while in China was given? :p *giggles*
