There is no better reason to Blog!

FamilyYou may have noticed that I have rotating photos as part of the theme on my blog. Some of pics that I have taken of scenery and specific items, while others are of family and friends.

They are there because they are one of the reasons that I blog.

I have received good news about my brother – he is to become a Dad – and logging on today and seeing this photo of both the siblings that have made me (or are making me) an aunt, it just makes me get all gooey with love and good vibes. Love, especially the sort that holds family and friendships together, is truly a precious thing.

I have to insert a paragraph in here about being an aunt, and how excited I am that my brother – the only male among the three children of my father – will be passing on the family name. Hopefully it won’t stop there, and if it’s a girl, well Jo will have to resign herself to the fact that she’ll have to get pregnant again – no pressure!!! *kidding Jo* :)

I miss my family in Australia, and while I can reminisce on this virtual soapbox, nothing beats actually being among those that love you. I have that here as well, but I was raised an Australian, and only my siblings can share those memories from ‘way back when’.

Another reason I blog is for my blogging friends, and while I have been a bit slack this week – it’s been busy – I’ve tried to post once a day, and I will respond to comments and get back to YesBut’s caption competition, as well as post my own version of Addicted to Blogging after reading Deborah’s over on Uncommon Notions. I am grateful that I have managed to move up on David’s Aussiejourno’s Weekly Blog Awards (Yippee), and condolences on your loss this week (well done on still publishing). I also want to share some feedback with Chewy – I really like the direction she’s taking lately.

I have a few things on my plate from a blogging perspective – I am doing a comparison of WordPress (hosted, free version), vs Blogger, and as such have been doing some testing over at a Photo Gallery Blog that I’ve set up. I’ll be reporting on the results in the coming days.

Additionally, I have been utilising the BlogBackupOnline web application that I reviewed earlier this week, and it has been encouraging (although I did assist them in identifying a bug, which is being patched as I type).

On a personal perspective, I have some opinions I want to share about guys and girls and that ever complicated relationship between guys that is affected by girls. Confused already? Stay tuned and all will become as clear as mud!

All this on top of my work, and I want to get an hour’s drum practice in today as well!!

I’ve been enjoying your clever captions at YesBut’s images. I’m looking forward to your comments on my paintings.

Cuckoo – no problem. I’m a big web tool fan and I want to see my friends taking advantage of the best tools out there – I had just better be sure myself what the best tools are.

And thanks for the wishes – I’m really excited for my bro.
