I have been married for 10 years now, and there are some days that I thought we wouldn’t make it. So how did we get here despite all the hard times, the fights and the naysayers? Finding the cause of our problems helped some. But the flipside of this is what you do with that cause.
Do you solve it?
Do you learn to live with it?
Sometimes it’s how you deal with the causes and work around them, that makes your marriage survive. If you try and solve or remove the cause every time, you may find you are removing an integral part of your partner.
Sometimes it just might be worth asking the question “is this cause so important that I want to lose my partner?” or “how can we work around this (aka compromise?) rather than eliminate it?”
